Chief Executive Officer
Humphrey Cobbold joined Pure Gym in 2015 as CEO. He was previously CEO of Wiggle Ltd, an online retailer of cycling and triathlon related products, during which time he launched the international business across Europe, Japan, Australia, USA and China. He has extensive business experience gained through his former roles, which include: Chairman of Fish4, a British classified advertising website; Director of Strategic Development and an Executive Committee member of Trinity Mirror; and, co-head of the UK media and corporate finance practices for the global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company.
Chief Financial Officer
Adam Bellamy joined Pure Gym in 2012 as CFO. His experience covers multi-site retail, hospitality and entertainment businesses, both private equity owned and publicly listed. He was previously Finance Director of Atmosphere Bars & Clubs Ltd and before that Finance Director of upscale restaurant group D&D London Ltd. During his earlier career he held senior finance roles at department store retailer House of Fraser and hospitality group Whitbread.
Jacques De Bruin
Chief Operating Officer
Jacques de Bruin has been COO of Pure Gym since 2011. Previously, he was the UK Operations Manager at Virgin Active, heading up over 71 clubs. He has deep industry experience, having started out with Virgin Active in South Africa, before working for them in the UK for six years.
Richard Zannino has been a Non-Executive Director of Pure Gym since May 2013. He is currently a Managing Director of CCMP Capital Advisors, LP and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to joining CCMP in 2009, Richard was CEO of Dow Jones & Company, having held several roles in the company since 2001, including CFO and COO. His previous roles have included CFO of Liz Claiborne and Executive Vice President and CFO of Saks Fifth Avenue. Richard is currently a Board member of Infogroup Inc., Jamieson Laboratories, The Hillman Companies, Inc., Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Shoes For Crews, Estee Lauder, and IAC/InterActiveCorp.
Thomas Walker has been a Non-Executive Director of Pure Gym since May 2013. He is currently a Managing Director of CCMP Capital Advisors (UK) II Limited, CCMP’s London affiliate, and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Tom was previously a Partner at J.P. Morgan Partners, LLC from 2002 to 2006. He has extensive investment banking experience spanning mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, high yield debt and leveraged lending, having held various roles in J.P. Morgan in the US and UK as well as positions at Credit Suisse First Boston and Drexel, Burnham, Lambert. Thomas is on the board of directors of Volotea S.A.,Islestarr Holdings Ltd (parent company of Charlotte Tilbury Beauty) and Thinkforward, a UK charity organisation.Return to PureGym Group page
