Training plan FAQs

Q: What are Training Plans

A: Training Plans are monthly workout programmes available in our PureGym app that are tailored to you to help you achieve your fitness goals. You will be matched with a plan depending on your goal, fitness level and number of workouts you want to do each week. Each workout contains step by step instructions of what exercises to do, how-to steps and videos of the movements to help you learn new exercises and explore different bits of kit in our gyms. Try one of our guided training plans to kickstart your fitness journey!


Q: How do I select a Training Plan?

A: Once logged into the PureGym app go to the Training tab and choose the ‘In Gym’ section located at the top of the page. Just answer a few questions about your goal, fitness level and number of workouts you’d like to do each week. You’ll be provided a plan tailored to your needs!


Q: How do I change my goal, fitness level and/or number of workouts per week?

A: If you’d like to change any of your options after you’ve created your first plan, click on the settings icon in the top right corner. From there you can see what your current settings are for your goal, fitness level and number of workouts. Click the edit button on the right side of your current settings and it will ask you to select your preferences for each option again. Click finish and you’ll be provided the altered plan.


 Q: How do I know if my form is correct?

A: Within our training plans every exercise has a handy GIF showing you how the exercise should correctly be performed. However, perfect form will look different from person to person, so if you are unsure please speak to one of our PTs who will be more than happy to help.


Q: How heavy should I be lifting? What weight should I use?

A: Unfortunately, there is no way to say exactly how much weight you should be using as this is dependent on a number of factors and can vary person to person. However, within our Absolute Beginner and Beginner plans we have provided estimated starting weight ranges to help you find what is right for you. These can be helpful if you are unsure where to start, but we do encourage you to start light and work your way up. As a general guide, we recommend that if you can comfortably complete more than 2 reps over the rep range provided you may benefit from using a slightly heavier weight. However, please remember that it is important to prioritise correct form over the weight. Don’t try to lift heavier until you are safely and correctly executing the movement pattern.


Q: What’s happening to the workout plans that are currently in the app?

A: We’ve taken on your feedback and have produced new and improved Training Plans. In order to make room, we’ve moved the Workout Plans out of the app.


Don’t worry, you’ll still have unlimited access to your mobile friendly Workout Plan, but this will no longer sit within the app. Listed below are the weblinks for each plan so you can continue to use your plan as you’ve done before;
