Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the greatest gym I’m somewhat disappointed with pure gym. I currently use the harbourside venue in Bristol. It has some air con but it’s useless. I use the cardio for about an hour and I’m literally dripping and I’m probsbly working at an average pace. I look like I’ve just got out of the shower! The blowers are the machines are like having someone blow heavily on you! To top it off you then get to use a hot shower! There isn’t no facility to decide on the temperature YOU want. Then as you get ready, you’re sweating as much as you did before you showered!! The gym may have had a refit but the layout is rubbish. I used like running in front of the mirrors. It helped me focus when really pushing myself. Now I’m facing people working out as they’ve changed the layout. The cardio equipment is the same old equipment (excluding the spin area), with wobbling cross trainers and noisy treadmills etc. The beginning of the week gets really busy and sometimes not enough equipment. I’ve had to change my hours at work to cope with this. This is exasperated by the new uni students in sept/Oct, then in jan/Feb when the Xmas piggies want to play. Finally the changing rooms have old and buckled lockers. Some of which you can spend ages trying to get back in to get your stuff. Great when you want to get showered. The seating is also under the lockers so you are either getting in other users way or they’re in yours. Why not have seating on the opposite side so people can get changed whilst people just need to get to their lockers? I’ve been with pure gym for two years. It’s tome for s change so am waiting for a new gym to open more locally to where I live! One month to go!!!! On the upside, it’s quite clean and the staff are really friendly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gym for students I was with PureGym for a year before leaving Bristol. This gym is great. The personal trainers are lovely and I found that there was always plenty of kit available for what I needed to do. The only tips I'd give would just be on general cleanliness and tidiness. The showers can be a bit mucky at times and the equipment can be sweaty. Lots of gyms provide cleaning products for members to wipe down their equipment after use, so that may be a good shout for this gym. Also despite signs being up, lots of the equipment isn't put back which can be very irritating especially as this gym is over two floors! But that's no fault of PureGym. I just think with the renovation, it needs to be clearer where equipment should end up. Thanks!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Busy Its a hassle going up to the 5th floor in a lift, and then it doesn't seem to have much floor space esp for free weights, so is busy with all the other office workers nearby and hot too. But maybe this is only due to the current refurb, will give it a shot and hope it improves, otherwise will just cancel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Gym another reviewer complains that weights etc are not put back on their racks. As a regular user I would say that 90% of the purpertrators of this are the PT trainers. they squirrel stuff away around the gym for their clients to use. I'm sorry the kits there for EVERYONE to use when your client is not using it you should put it back properly. another problem here is it s popularity not only is it sometimes hard to use the kit you want but the pod entry system very often causes huge queues at peak times getting in or out, made worse because the lifts deliver people in groups to the door but you can only exit 1 at atime

Rated 1 out of 5 by from PureGym...PureRubbish! Very disappointing PureGym experience. Took a 3 day pass as I was in Bristol on business and wanted to continue my training. Could not believe the state of the place, granted i was normally there between 430 pm and 6pm but did not expect to have to search high and low for weight plates just to workout. No one tidies up after themselves as dumbells and plates were everywhere but back on the racks. Due to this PureGym being so popular i can understand why the equipment is worn down however the most disgusting thing that really annoyed me was there was no sanitizing spray/paper towels to wipe down the equipment after use. This is really bad hygiene and surely a health and safety violation, the gym has a cheek to have signs up telling members to wipe down equipment after use....with what exactly? If you want to wait 30 minutes to use any lifting equipment and want to bathe in the last persons sweat then this is the place for you! PureGym.....PureRubbish more like!
