Hyrox is a fitness competition that combines 8 x 1km runs with eight functional workout stations. PureGym are excited to partner with Hyrox to bring three new classes to many of our Manchester and Liverpool clubs. These Hyrox classes are suitable for gym members of all fitness levels who want to improve their strength, speed, and endurance. You don't have to be taking part in a Hyrox event to benefit from, or enjoy, our Hyrox classes. They are a fun way to keep fit and learn how to do the different exercises in a Hyrox competition, in a safe and controlled environment.

Do I have to be fit to do a Hyrox class?

Hyrox events are designed to be the event for everybody, and our classes have been designed to be suitable for all levels, whether you are training to compete or just want to try something new.

We have three different Hyrox classes, including an Intro to Hyrox class which is aimed at those with no prior training experience. Our accredited Hyrox coaches can help to ensure that all members get the most of the classes, no matter what your ability is.

Can Hyrox classes help me to prepare for a Hyrox event?

Yes – our Hyrox classes are a great way to prepare for a Hyrox event. These classes are specifically designed to help improve technique, strength, and endurance across the eight exercises in a Hyrox competition.

What exercises are in a Hyrox workout class?

Our Hyrox classes are based around the nine exercises in a Hyrox competition:

  • Running

  • Ski erg

  • Sled push

  • Sled pull

  • Burpees

  • Rowing

  • Farmers carry

  • Sandbag lunges

  • Wall balls

Are all Hyrox classes the same?

No – we mix up each class to keep things interesting and ensure you are building overall strength and conditioning, while improving on the different exercises that make up a Hyrox competition.

Can Hyrox build muscle?

Hyrox classes include a range of weight training and resistance exercises which are great for building muscle and strength, while also improving conditioning.

Can you do Hyrox without training?

Yes - all our Hyrox classes are suitable for individuals without any training experience, as our accredited Hyrox coaches can help to tailor the classes for any ability. We also have an Intro to Hyrox class which is great for those who want to learn more about Hyrox while trying the exercises in a beginner friendly, fun format.

What should you wear to a Hyrox class?

Our Hyrox classes involve a mix of functional fitness exercises, running, and strength training. As a guide, we recommend the following to ensure you're comfortable and can perform at your best:

  • Moisture wicking top and socks: Breathable, moisture wicking clothes will help to keep you dry by drawing sweat away from your body.

  • Supportive sports bra: Some Hyrox exercises are high impact and wearing a sports bra that provides adequate support will help to prevent discomfort.

  • Comfortable shorts or leggings: Choose shorts or leggings that are made from breathable fabric and allow a full range of motion while staying securely in place.

  • Running shoes: A good pair of running shoes provides support and cushioning to protect against impact and provide stability while running.

You may also want to wear workout gloves to help with grip, and a headband to keep sweat out of your eyes.

Which gyms are running Hyrox classes?

We are currently running Hyrox classes in 10 of our Manchester and Liverpool gyms:
