How to find us

You'll find us on the Marshwood Close Retail Park on Marshwood Close, near to Argos and opposite Asda. If you're driving to the gym, our postcode is CT1 1DX and you can park for free onsite or across the road in the Asda car park. *Parking restrictions may apply. Please check in the car park before you enter the gym. PureGym is not responsible for any parking fines.

Alternative methods of getting to us include bus (the nearest stop is two minutes away on South Street); park and ride (a 13-minute walk away) or bike (there are bike racks outside Argos).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like the well-known paint advert: 'does exactly..' A well set out Gym with all of the usual equipment. Personally I don't think that the equipment compares well with my old gym (DW). In particular I needed to use two pieces of kit, to exercise my leg muscles and could only find one of them which was over used. The one item which I would criticise is the WiFi which was not working very well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The gym was very clean which I appreciated. Cleanliness was great! The spin class I attended was okay, but not great, and I would recommend a few changes: 1. There should be a larger emphasis on resistance training. For example, higher resistance and slower rpms to represent hills. Switching off between hills and sprints (intervals) is a good idea. There should be a noticeable difference in rpms, but the resistance should not vary greatly (there should still be a fair amount of resistance on the bike). Intervals for hill climbing should increase in length; some hill climbs can even be as long as an entire song. 2. Sprints are best when they are at a medium resistance and you aim for 100-125 rpms. Doing this in beat with the music can help the riders. Going 125+ on a low gear doesn't do much in way of getting stronger or becoming a better rider -- instead, it leads to bouncing on the seat of your bike which is improper form and can lead to injuries. 3. Syncing the music to the desired rpms makes the class more enjoyable and enables the riders to stay on beat and push harder. 4. Incorporating arm movements on the bike would make it a well-rounded class. There are ways to do push up-like moves which increases the intensity of the workout. Highly recommend! 5. More work out of the seat would be great! Sprints while out of the seat are more difficult and lead to a better work out. Sprinkingly a few throughout the class is a good idea. Intense hill climbs are best out of the seat as well; the position enables riders to use more power and push themselves harder. 6. Incorporating 1-2 isolation periods per class is also a good idea. Usually done in 30-45 second intervals, isolation allows riders to focus on strength training in the lower body (quads and glutes) and core.
