And what’s more, we are open 24 hours a day so whether you’re an early bird or a night owl we are here whenever the exercise bug takes your fancy.

Over 220 pieces of quality kit

We may be a cheap gym but that doesn’t mean we’ve cut back on the essentials because we have more than 220 pieces of equipment to choose from throughout all of our 23O+ gyms. Take your pick from cardiovascular classics like cross trainers, treadmills, rowers and steppers. Or if spinning is your thing saddle up on one of our fantastic exercise bikes and go for a ride without the worry of traffic, exhaust fumes and pot holes.

Free group classes

If you prefer working in groups then step into one of our free classes. With more than 60 group sessions available you will be spoiled for choice, so get a lift from working with barbells, weights and steps in our Pure Pump class or get a kick out of combat with music ringing round your ears. If you need a helping hand we have personal trainers available for extra motivation.

New members receive a free induction from an instructor who will explain how the equipment works and assess your fitness needs. Still unsure? Try out one of our day passes and check out for yourself what we have to offer.

Gateshead gym reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Responsible approach bravo! It was great to see that the gym had taken precautionary measures to try and keep everyone safe. You can't however make every one adhere to cleaning machines etc but to see the attempt was comforting

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sufficient Can’t fault the gym locker area could be cleaner seen a chicken rapper in lockers and was still there 4 days later

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite gym Hundreds of different machines so you’re never waiting to use one, it’s all very clean and managed well, and there’s lots of friendly staff available if you need help. It’s the best value for money in Newcastle. My only negative would be it does get quite warm even though its a large gym so better air conditioning would be appreciated.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lots of space, no gym staff. Lots of room to train in, lots of dumb bells, so rarely waiting for weights. Downside is the gym staff are virtuall, they hide behind locked doors and if you manage to find a member of staff they only offer advice if you pay them as a PT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from range of facilities and a lot of space I love this gym, my only issue is the female changing rooms should have more lockers. I also think that there should be clear sign posts on where facilities are. Overall though a very good gym and a good value for money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Plenty of machines around Mostly positive. Could do with a few more rowing machines

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value plenty of machines, great staff! Great value plenty of machines, great classes and staff are very friendly. even at peak times when a lot of equipment is in use by others the gym has plenty to offer for a good workout.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good clean gym overall I've visited three PureGym's. Gateshead is by far the best one (the other two were in Newcastle city centre). Gateshead is clean and the staff are friendly and approachable. The classes are great too. It is let down by equipment being frequently out of order including basic things like hand sanitiser (of which there only seems to be one?!). The machines themselves could do with cleaning a bit more often, any dirt/rubbish on machines on one gym visit will often still be there a couple of days later. Out of the three I visited it is also the only one with the Yanga water machine too. I thought that given the extra membership we pay for this water, it would be available at all gyms but nope!
