Purley gym reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for money, you get what you pay for I feel the gym is good value for money, you get what you pay for. However I do feel as though the right measures need to be put in place in light of the Coronavirus, I have seen more hand sanitisers and tissue to wipe down machines - although I find all of this pretty pointless when the rest of the gym is far from clean, and not really a point of hand sanitisers if there are none outside the pods, leaving us to still use the pin pads. Need some in the entrance after exiting the pods.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I enjoy PureGym, especially the pilate classes I regularly use pilate classes with two different instructors which varies the routines.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Messy, weights everywhere Love the price Hate the fact that it takes me an extra 15/20 minutes a day to find the equipment I need. Dumbbells and Weights are all over the floor I gym 6amso no one works at night to maintain the floor! It’s clearly visible every morning then the personal trainers are working with clients so they don’t tidy up and then the morning classes start the first time anyone tidies up is from7am More dumbbells in racks are needed for the lighter weights... everyone is trying to find the same weights! For the amount of users in the gym there is not enough weighted equipment like dumbbells You end up having to modify the workout planned to make up for lack of equipment Quite regularly you can only find 1 6kg dumbbell the other has vanished. Changing rooms are always spotless and lovely and roomy! Just the gym floor let’s the gym down. If I trip over who’s liable? Not the person that cane in at 2am and left dumbbells everywhere I’m more than happy to tidy up after myself however to have to tidy an area before I can even workout is frustrating to say the least. tje cleaning supplies have suddenly appeared please can we continue to have tissue and spray wipe down the machines I’ve neVer seen these until the virus spread countrywide. The whole weekend no one checked and signed off the changing rooms so it doesn’t give me much confidence that the gym is actually cleaned regularly, they just seem to check the sanitiser is full up I’m sure you are working hard to ensure the gym remains open, cleaning needs to be improved of equipment and gym floor needs to remain free of hazards and tidy at all times

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Why is the weights area always a mess The free weights area was just a shambles. I got there just before 6am on sunday and the weight plates were all over the floor, none put away, peoples old water bottles instead of in the bin were on the floor. I put my plates away after using them and people were looking at me like i was mad to tidy up. Really need to take action against members who simply throw plates around and just leave them. Instead you have men intimidating women from using the squat rack for instance by saying they are using things when they are not or just standing and staring which for new people to the gym will be daunting but luckily i couldnt care less.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not enough cleaning stations Went today to see the extra measures in place but there were only 2 bottles of cleaning fluid that I could see. Also only a couple of people using them. I have decided to freeze my membership for a month. Was very disappointed

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great gym but some hygiene improvements needed. I went to the gym on Saturday afternoon, it wasn't staffed. I've been working towards running 5k recently so I set the treadmill to a 5k run. During this time (I'm really slow) I was able to observe some really disappointing things I'm afraid. I go to the gym at Purley. There was one bottle of cleaning spray available with very little left in it and NO paper towels. A few people went to clean their equipment but, with no towels, were unable to. However, many people didn't even bother to try. Fortunately I took two flannels with me - one for my sweaty brow and one to clean with so I was able to clean the equipment I used. There was almost no toilet paper in the ladies toilets. All this less than 24 hours after your email regarding improvement in cleaning procedures because of coronavirus. I love going to classes when I can, but recently either the membership has rocketed or classes have been cut (or both) because I'm never able to get a space. The only way I can afford my membership is because I get a discount through discounts for teachers, this means that I can't afford the upgrade to the next level. I completed a 5k run on the treadmill, that's 3.1 miles, my fitbit reckoned I'd run 4.1 miles. I know that my fitbit measures the same as the rest of my running group's devices and apps (Strava etc), so are the treadmills accurate? On my way out I was just behind a guy who, having sanitised his hands, was not prepared to use one to push the button to get through the main front door so, instead of being sensible and using his elbow or forearm, he kicked the button (twice) to open the door. Sorry, my review sounds awful but I genuinely do love going to the gym, I just wish I could get onto classes more often.
