HOW TO JOIN
- Before you first use any of our gyms, you must have done the following as part of the join-up process: (i) completed your details on our join-up page (either for members or for guests), (ii) confirmed that you have read and you agree to the health agreement declaration, (iii) confirmed that you have read and you agree to these Terms and Conditions and the terms applicable to the type of membership you have chosen, (iv) if you are purchasing a membership, made payment of the amount required for the first payment for the type of membership you have chosen. Once you have completed these steps, we will contact you to let you know whether your membership application / application to use our gym as a guest has been accepted and the terms of the contract between us and you.
- You must read the health agreement declaration (a link to which is HERE) carefully and must not confirm your agreement to it unless the confirmations set out in it are accurate for you. We will rely on your agreement to the health agreement declaration to decide whether you can become a member or (if you want to use our gyms as a guest of a member, to decide whether or not you can use our gyms as a guest).
- You must make sure that all of the details you give us during the join-up process are accurate and complete.
- We do not have to accept your application to use our gyms. We can reject your application, for example if we have cancelled a previous membership held by you because you have broken our terms and conditions and gym rules then in effect, or if we reasonably believe that letting you use our gyms could pose a risk to us, you, or other users.
- At the point at which we send you an email to confirm your purchase and receipt for your first payment, a binding contract will come into existence between you and us. We refer to this binding contract as “this contract” in these Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions and the Gym Rules will be terms of this contract, along with any other terms applicable to the membership option you have selected in the join-up process.
- Disabled access: If you tick the ‘disabled access’ box upon joining, your membership will be temporarily put on hold. You must then contact your home gym manager, whose details will be sent to you in a follow-up email to organise a disabled access induction. During this, you can discuss any needs you have, we will discuss with you any required Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) and you will be shown how to use the easy access facilities. The gym manager will then remove the hold on your membership and confirm on our systems that any required PEEP is in place which will allow you unrestricted access to the gym. The disabled access induction is mandatory. If for whatever reason the PEEP form is not marked as completed but your membership is taken off hold, you will have restricted access hours for the gym. These will be communicated to you by email.
- The email we send you to confirm your application to use our gyms has been accepted will include information about using our gyms including the Gym Rules and our Safety and Security guidance (including the first aid and emergency procedures document and our guidance on staying safe in the gym whilst it is unstaffed ). For your own safety you must familiarise yourself with all of this guidance.
- We charge you for your membership when we accept your application to use our gyms. However, for monthly membership we take payment at regular intervals, as explained to you during the order process.
- In some locations you can choose to delay the start date of your membership by up to 1 month. If you want to bring this date forward, please contact us at member.services@puregym.com and we will be happy to discuss your options.
- You will be entitled to the rights for the type of membership chosen which are set out in the confirmation email sent to you. References in these Terms and Conditions to use of the gym includes use of our core classes which are included in a member’s membership.
- You agree to tell us immediately of any change to the details you give us during the join-up process.
- You cannot transfer this contract to anyone else or let anyone else use the rights under this contract. If you do let anyone else use one of our gyms under this contract we have with you, we can end this contract immediately by giving you notice by email.
EXERCISING SAFELY
- Unsupervised exercise: We do not supervise your exercise or your use of the gym machines and equipment at our gyms. You must take all steps within your control to use the gym safely and to avoid injury to yourself and others when using our gyms.
- Responsibility for fitness / deciding whether to use gyms is yours: You must make sure you are capable of safely undertaking unsupervised exercise at our gyms, taking into account your fitness level, strength, any health conditions, weaknesses, injuries or illnesses you have (or have had in the past), and your familiarity with using gyms and gym machines and equipment, and if you are unsure you should seek advice from your doctor. If there are any changes in your health, fitness level or strength (including recent illnesses, injuries and new or worsened health conditions) it is your responsibility to decide whether to continue exercising in our gyms and using our gym machines and equipment. Our staff are not authorised by us to advise whether you are capable of safely exercising in the gym, and you should not rely on any advice given by them.
- Exercise within your limits: You must make sure you exercise within your limits and seek advice from your doctor if you are unsure what is and is not advisable for you to do.
- Gym machines and equipment: Our gyms have gym machines and equipment which could cause injury to you or others if not used properly. Many of our gym machines and equipment have instructions and you should take your time to understand those instructions before using them and you must only use those gym machines and equipment in accordance with the instructions. Some of the gym machines and equipment in our gyms do not have instructions for use, and you must only use those gym machines and equipment if you know from your previous experience how to use them safely. If you are unsure as to how to use any of the gym machines or equipment, please seek advice from a qualified member of Pure Gym staff before using such gym machines or equipment.
- Inductions: We offer inductions to show users how to use some of the gym machines and equipment, but we do not make you complete an induction (save for the disabled access induction described above), and our inductions will not cover how to use all the gym machines and equipment. It is up to you to decide whether to have an induction. Whether or not you have an induction, it will not change your responsibilities or ours under this contract.
- Gym Rules: You must keep to the Gym Rules.
- Emergency help points and safety stations: You must make sure you know where the emergency help points, emergency exits, and safety stations are in the gym you use.
- Slip and trip hazards: You must take care when using the gym to avoid slip and trip hazards such as loose weights, personal belongings of other users and spilt liquids.
- What to do if you feel unwell or injure yourself: You should ask for help if you feel unwell, injure yourself, or are concerned for your safety or wellbeing. If a PureGym member of staff is not on hand, you should use one of the red emergency help points located around the gym. We have a remote CCTV team in place 24/7 (which can see all areas of the gym other than the changing rooms) who will be able to call the on-call gym team or emergency services if necessary.
- Reporting accidents: You must report any accident or injury you have whilst using any of our gyms by notifying a PureGym member of staff or by notifying our member services team on member.services@puregym.com.

We may (but we are under no obligation to) present an option to reduce the administration fee if the outstanding amount is paid online within 7 days of becoming due.
