London St Pauls gym reviews

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gym manager *thumbs down* I've been a member of this gym for a while now and have become used to it and accepted it for what it is (for the price!), because it's easy enough to get to. The gym isn't my first choice of places to be, with the recent arrival of the new manager, I enjoy time spent there even less! Her intro in one of the classes I was in, when raising awareness for a charity, was quite bullish and her whole demeanour overbearing. In the time I've been a member I've never seen 2 sometimes 3 members of staff waiting outside the studio doors like door staff at a club! I still have no clue what the intention is (so far it seems to be to accost people who have bags in the, I get it...but they've always been stored away tidily and safely and have never until now been an issue), but I can tell you, their presence, hers in particular is seriously demotivating and off-putting! It might be better received if as a customer facing rep of the gym, the approach was more friendly and less authoritarian!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well organised with paper rolls and disinfectant Please ask the staff to spread the voice about the COVID-19 virus risks, talking more often with people visiting the gym, reminding them to keep a good hygiene. I really appreciated the tissue paper rolls and disinfectant presence at the gym.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from For more money getting less I was member of FitnessDK/SATS in Denmark, where I paid £20, got awesome facilities, could use all gyms in country, where ALL gyms had saunas and steam rooms and great showers. None of this I can use in PureGym, although I pay fairily high membership, I cant go to gyms where the memberships are lower. Like my friend in Greenwich pays way less cuz it is Greenwich, but I, although, paying more, I cant go there. That the desinfection and paper towels were added just now when the corona virus took over, it is just pathetic. It should be there already before! Hygiene first! Your showers here are bad, they are low. Im not high person, but if I wanna wash my head I need to almost make squat in the shower so I get my head wet! After my first two visits I was so dissapointed and honesly didnt like it there at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use gym with great classes The gym is easy to access and it’s quite easy to find the facilities you’re looking for. The gym is clean and the staff are very friendly. Classes are great, especially Zumba and yoga.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but cycle classes need improvement Would like to see vast improvements with cycle classes. There is only one 45 mins class in the morning (on Thursdays) and I believe there should be more. Would also like the instructors to change the music and routine every once in a while, at least once a month. I have been there for a few months and it is always the same, which is unmotivating.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weird layout The floor plans doesn't lend itself to an easy gym layout. One Smith has been broken in the free weight section since I've joined - it has been a couple months... this is pretty poor to still not have this resolved. Over all range of equipment is limited.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Need better spin instructors I mainly attend spin classes at Pure Gym but they are very samey and boring, no atmosphere in the class.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weights all over the place and no towel policy. Gym is generally good, if not a bit too crowded during peak period. However, the main issue is that there is no enforcement on people leaving their weights on the floor, loaded on machines, or put back into the wrong places. This is common practice at most gyms - not just a little sign on the wall, but actual enforcement (i.e. rescind membership if it happens multiple times). For example, I've had to help an older person un-rack more than 10x 25kg plates from the leg press as someone has previously left them on there. I should mention there seems to be a couple of cool trainers who take it upon themselves to clean up after others - they shouldn't have to. Many people also don't use towels on the equipment, leaving a large amount of sweat on there. I'm quite surprised by: 1. The lack of enforcement 2. The general etiquette (I've never seen such messy gym patrons before) If it wasn't for the above, it would be a great gym.
