How to find us
We’re based in the Dickens World Complex in the heart of Chatham Maritime Marina on Leviathan Way. You’ll find us above the Villagio restaurant and bar, about 50m away from the Quay apartments.
If you’re driving to the club follow the signs for the ‘Historic Dockyard’. Our postcode is ME4 4LL and you can park for free in the Chatham Maritime complex or in the multi storey car park. In all, there are 1,500 spaces to choose from so you shouldn’t have a problem parking!
The nearest bus stop is right below the club. Arriva runs a service (140/141) to and from Chatham Marina through Chatham Town Centre every 10 minutes.

Great PT sessionI recently had a PT session with Lewis and just wanted to say it has totally motivated me to get a programme in place to achieve my personal goals. Lewis is very passionate about his training and really empathises with the challenges of his client. Thanks for a great session and looking forward to the next one!

Better than TruGymI usually go to the gym early-mid morning (between 8-10). The last gym I was a member of was the TruGym across the road and I cancelled there because at the same time of day all I could get on for over an hour was a rowing machine! Very rarely have to wait for anything and if I do I can go and do a few sets of another exercise and come back and it's free.
Good range of equipment all in good condition. The couple of times I have seen something broken it's been fixed within a couple of days.
Plenty of staff around and whenever I've needed to ask anything they are happy to help. PT's seem knowledgable if you need that sort of thing.
No comment on classes as I never use them.
All in all I'm able to get in get the job done and leave without any problems for a decent price - so I'm happy.

Good gymI like the look and feel of pure gyms, having previously been a member in Plymouth, however I don’t particularly like the layout at Chatham. The fact that the weights room is a separate room upstairs makes going in there even more daunting than it would be anyway.

Much better than I expectedI joined PureGym Chatham 2 months ago because the gym I was using kept cancelling classes and changing opening hours. I was a bit skeptical about using a 24 hour gym as I though it may be not very well looked after but I had no need to worry as the gym t is very clean and has plenty of equipment in good order. I love the variety of classes offered and the fact you can do a class as early as 6.15 in the morning! The instructors are very good, engaging, friendly and always available to help. I'm so glad I made the choice to move.

It is what it is!I think people can be pretty harsh sometimes. The staff all seem to me to be knowledgeable and hardworking, and I sometimes chat to a couple of them, but I actually like that they don't come and unnecessarily bother people. Might be useful to have some kid of system for being able to reach them when you do need them though, rather than having to go searching. At the end of the day it's a budget gym- you're getting access to lots of equipment and space for a fraction of the cost of health clubs, so peak times it's going to be busy, and the staff can't be everywhere at once- there is also a business side to run. But there are pros and cons to everything- I loved Waterfront; really beautiful views, quiet, pool/spa etc, but PureGym has more equipment and more atmosphere, which can help on the days when you're dragging yourself to the gym. Also I go during off peak, so my experience is going to be more positive than those who have to fight for space, I accept that!
I would love to see a functional training area, but I appreciate that there is a lack of space- it's something that maybe the staff could encourage people to set up for themselves, if there was equipment readily available (sometimes there are bits you need to ask for), or maybe there is a way of setting up a rig in the fitness room that could be lowered down?
(OR get whoever owns Dickens World and Porters Bar to bridge through so it can become a super gym with a healthy food restaurant! :D )
Btw I have been asked at classes to leave feedback- I thought this would be an app thing, but apparently there's a box? I haven't noticed where it is, sorry.

Unfriendly and aggressive staff memberOn visiting Chatham pure gym today, I was pleased to have access to an empty weights room. Having used the smith machine to bench press, I got up to continue my work out only to be approached by a female member of staff who asked me to put away a different barbell used by another gym user who had been doing deadlifts. I explained that these were not my weights. She then aggressively asked me what it was I was using. On explanation I was benching using the smith machine, she insisted I took the plates off the barbell, which I did. I asked her if she was going to move the other barbell which she had mentioned as being the original issue- she flippantly said 'later on' (odd considering this was why she approached me in the first place). At this point, being the only user in the room at the time I felt particularly singled out by her accusatory and unfriendly manner. I fully agree with putting weights back and always do but being watched and asked to put weights away I which haven't even used is a little too officious and her tone was frankly aggressive. The rest of the gym was great.
