Much better than I expectedI joined PureGym Chatham 2 months ago because the gym I was using kept cancelling classes and changing opening hours. I was a bit skeptical about using a 24 hour gym as I though it may be not very well looked after but I had no need to worry as the gym t is very clean and has plenty of equipment in good order. I love the variety of classes offered and the fact you can do a class as early as 6.15 in the morning! The instructors are very good, engaging, friendly and always available to help. I'm so glad I made the choice to move.

It is what it is!I think people can be pretty harsh sometimes. The staff all seem to me to be knowledgeable and hardworking, and I sometimes chat to a couple of them, but I actually like that they don't come and unnecessarily bother people. Might be useful to have some kid of system for being able to reach them when you do need them though, rather than having to go searching. At the end of the day it's a budget gym- you're getting access to lots of equipment and space for a fraction of the cost of health clubs, so peak times it's going to be busy, and the staff can't be everywhere at once- there is also a business side to run. But there are pros and cons to everything- I loved Waterfront; really beautiful views, quiet, pool/spa etc, but PureGym has more equipment and more atmosphere, which can help on the days when you're dragging yourself to the gym. Also I go during off peak, so my experience is going to be more positive than those who have to fight for space, I accept that!
I would love to see a functional training area, but I appreciate that there is a lack of space- it's something that maybe the staff could encourage people to set up for themselves, if there was equipment readily available (sometimes there are bits you need to ask for), or maybe there is a way of setting up a rig in the fitness room that could be lowered down?
(OR get whoever owns Dickens World and Porters Bar to bridge through so it can become a super gym with a healthy food restaurant! :D )
Btw I have been asked at classes to leave feedback- I thought this would be an app thing, but apparently there's a box? I haven't noticed where it is, sorry.

Unfriendly and aggressive staff memberOn visiting Chatham pure gym today, I was pleased to have access to an empty weights room. Having used the smith machine to bench press, I got up to continue my work out only to be approached by a female member of staff who asked me to put away a different barbell used by another gym user who had been doing deadlifts. I explained that these were not my weights. She then aggressively asked me what it was I was using. On explanation I was benching using the smith machine, she insisted I took the plates off the barbell, which I did. I asked her if she was going to move the other barbell which she had mentioned as being the original issue- she flippantly said 'later on' (odd considering this was why she approached me in the first place). At this point, being the only user in the room at the time I felt particularly singled out by her accusatory and unfriendly manner. I fully agree with putting weights back and always do but being watched and asked to put weights away I which haven't even used is a little too officious and her tone was frankly aggressive. The rest of the gym was great.

Gym is going down hillHi I've been a member at chatham gym for a long few years now and to start with it was a good gym.. the machines are constantly breaking and being out of service.. also never enough attachment for the cable machines either and if staff are asked they just tell you to look around or say there are no more.. the manager dosnt seem to run the place like it used to be run.. also they have a policy for tidying up after yourself which they insist that they enforce but after numerous time of telling them that there are weights left everywhere and who's doing it no one ever gets there membership revoked some of us pay to use the gym and actually train not sit on our phones make lots of mess and then leave.. it's got to the point now that it's over subscribed with an average of 150 people most evening which means every machine is being used and you end up spending an hour walking round or training on machines you don't want to use.. either the capacity of memberships needs to be limited or the people who abuse the gym and are making it a messy gym need to have there memberships revoked.. staff walk around and never say anyhtin g to anyone who's seen to be abusing the rules.. if the staff cant be bothered to do it then it shouldn't be left down to members of the public having to say to people them selves.. no doubt after this review the manager will put another sign at the top of the stairs which no one reads as they pay no attention to anything around them apart from there selfs or there phones.. if it's not sorted soon then me and the group of other people who also have this issue will no doubt move to another gym as it's gradually becoming unusable.. I have to say though that there are two pts there who are exceptional and always help even though they arnt payed to do so.. maybe the gym should employ some gym floor personel to monitor and also interact with the members there..

Local, clean, cheap, and great gym equipmentI joined up on 27th January 2018 online easy to do, various packages plus no contractual obligations. You can leave when you like. This branch is based by Chatham Dockside with free parking. No introduction is needed but you use the equipment at your own risk. There are numerous cross trainers and treadmills to use along side free weights and weight machines. You need a padlock for the lockers, changing rooms and showers are provided. Recommend to all ages but children under 16 needs to be supervised.

Good clean GymBeing over weight and I wear a headscarf I was worried about going to the gym. I looked around and the pt put me off a bit. He seemed moody. I attended a weight loss induction and found the pt very helpful and willing to explain things. This help reassure me.
Friendly and helpful staff. I have a bad knee so been given advise on how not to put to much pressure on it.
Nice and clean although toilets do smell a bit.
The classes are good and always feel like I've achieved a good workout. Pt's show ways to do things if some things are hard or because of injury.
I would recommend this gym to people as everyone just gets on with their own thing and staff make you feel welcome. Don't judge by your 1st visit.
