HEAR FROM PUREGYM PERSONAL TRAINERS

"The two business workshops were really helpful, and it's great to know that you can revisit them as and when you feel the need to. I also like knowing that I work with the biggest gym group in the UK - it gives me a sense of security."

Wai, Personal Trainer at PureGym

I have weekly catch ups with Managers, who always give me great advice and keep me accountable for my business. The Business Coach course is another great tool which has helped with looking at the finer details of my personal training business."

Mo, Personal Trainer at PureGym

"PureGym supported me from the start with a business foundations course and exercise to music training. The managers are always keen to help with lead generation ideas and class ideas, especially early on."

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Here at PureGym, we want you to grow with us and be the best you can be. Many Personal Trainers have developed their skills and progressed their careers at PureGym – whether that’s building a client base to become fully self-employed, or to go down the management route.

What do we look for?

At PureGym everybody is welcome, and we are on a mission to inspire a healthier nation - one member at a time.

You will play a key role in this mission as we look for people who are passionate about delivering an amazing fitness experience to our members in club.

This could be everything from leading an energising group exercise class, to rolling up your sleeves and ensuring the gym is clean to the highest standards.

All PT/FC applicants will need a Level 3 Personal Training Certificate, as well as a willingness to learn and get stuck into the day-to-day running of a gym.

HIRING PROCESS

Our hiring process for Personal Trainer/ Fitness Coach roles will involve

Telephone screening

An initial telephone screening call for the Fitness Coach role to discuss motivations for applying.

Face to face interview

If you are successful at this stage, you will progress to a face-to-face interview which will be either held in a club or on a video interview with a member of our dedicated hiring team.

Business plan

During this session we will also have a separate discussion about the Personal Trainer role, where you will be asked to run through your business plan.

TOP PERSONAL TRAINER QUESTIONS

  • To be a Personal Trainer/Fitness Coach you will need your Level 3 Personal Training certificate.

If you have completed your Level 2 Gym Instructor certificate and are currently studying towards your Level 3, there’s no need to wait to apply. We can still take you through our hiring process and potentially have a position ready and waiting for you once you have qualified.

  • PureGym has a dedicated team of PT Business Support Managers, who have backgrounds as PTs themselves, who deliver various levels of support to help you understand and build your client base. We have our Active IQ endorsed Business Foundation and Advanced courses, our 12 week Business Coach award, as well as our very own learning portal – My PT Zone, where you can do business webinars on a range of topics in your own time.

  • As a Fitness Coach you have a part-time employment contract for 12 hours per week, for which you are paid a monthly salary, and also receive benefits such as contracted holiday - there is no exchange of service hours for rent payments.

As a Personal Trainer you work under a self-employed agreement. You will pay a monthly rental fee that allows you to access the club members and use the facilities for your business.

  • No - 100% of your income is yours when you run your PT business from PureGym and your earnings potential is completely uncapped. Being a self-employed PT with PureGym means you are in total control of your business; how it runs, what service you offer, the payment and pricing structure to name just a few fundamentals.

  • No, the Fitness Coach role works alongside the Personal Trainer role. Some of our clubs offer permanent full-time Gym Instructor positions, for which you need to be Level 2 Fitness qualified.

  • All of the core classes are taught by our in house Fitness Coach team. We do have freelance instructors for specialist classes such as Pilates, Yoga and Zumba. If you have the qualifications and are interested in knowing more, please contact your local club.
