Frequently asked questions about our Manchester gyms

  • Most of our gyms in Manchester offer free parking, however some gyms have restricted parking systems (e.g. time limits). Manchester Spinningfield and Manchester Market Street do not have free parking but there are car parks nearby that can be used. Check the individual gym homepages to get more information on parking and public transport links. PureGym is not responsible for any parking fines.

  • All of our gyms in Manchester are open 24 hours a day.

  • PureGym memberships are contract-free, so you can join without committing to staying for longer periods. We also do 1, 3, 7, and 30 day passes if you’d rather try the gym for a shorter period before joining.

  • All our gyms in Manchester offer a mix of free weights, plate loaded, cable, and fixed resistance machines, cardio machines, and functional equipment. The equipment between gyms may vary slightly.

  • All the gyms in Manchester run group fitness classes throughout the week, which are included in your membership. Class timetables vary between each gym. To see what classes are on, visit the individual gym pages or download the free PureGym app.

  • All the gyms in Manchester have a friendly team of Personal Trainers available to hire. PTs can help you to achieve your fitness goals in several ways including 121 training sessions and bespoke fitness programmes. Check out the gym homepages or visit the PT hub within the gym to find a Personal Trainer. Personal Training is not included in your PureGym membership.

  • All the gyms in Manchester have male and female changing areas with individual showers, free lockers, hairdryers, and spare plug sockets, as well as toilets. You’ll need to bring your own padlock for the lockers. Changing rooms are closed between 12-3am but there are toilets and lockers on the gym floor.

  • PureGym Oldham has a ladies only area.

  • Members need to be at least 16 years old to sign up for a PureGym membership.

  • All of the gyms in Manchester come with free 02 WiFi. Simply select the 02 WiFi and follow the instructions in the browser to log in.

  • We do not have facilities like swimming pools or spas in any of our gyms. This helps us to keep the cost of our memberships down so that more people can afford to join the gym.

Students in Manchester have plenty of gyms to choose from with PureGym. University of Manchester students can take their pick from our First Street, Urban Exchange, Market Street, and Spinningfields gyms which are are all within 1.1 miles and under, and less than 0.8 miles from Manchester Metropolitan University. All of our Manchester gyms have a wide range of fitness classes which are included in your gym membership. Timetables vary, so we recommend checking on the gym pages or in the PureGym app to see which timetables and classes work best for you.

Best Gyms For Beginners

Beginners are welcome at all of our Manchester gyms. We recommend choosing a gym which is conveniently located, then booking an induction with one of our PTs via the app so that you can be shown around the gym and how to use the kit. You can also book our learn to lift workshops which aim to build skills and confidence in the gym.

Prefer a more functional style of strength training? Plenty of our gyms in Manchester are suitable for calisthenics workouts.
