Sharmin Aktar

I qualified as a PureGym personal trainer in 2022 because I want to help improve my clients' health and fitness. Healthy eating and keeping fit have been a big part of my life since a very young age.

I have been training in the gym to achieve my goals but this wasn't a walk in the park. When I had little training experience, I used to burn 1200 calories on a treadmill once a week. At the time I believed this was healthy, but I saw no fitness improvement and was very tired. I used to be intimidated by resistance training because I thought it was mainly a masculine activity. However, my PT changed my way of thinking and motivated me to reach my fitness goals through strength training.

As a Muslim woman, I initially struggled to reach my fitness goals in mixed-gender environments but my PT helped me to manage these fears and work hard on the gym-floor. Seeing how my PT guided me encouraged me to become a PT so that I could also improve my clients' lifestyles.

If you relate to any of these experiences or want someone to guide you in the gym then I would be delighted to help! Don't expect fast results because slow and steady wins the race. It took me many months of hard work, consistency and motivation to develop my muscle strength.

Feel free to shout out whenever you need help on the gym floor.
